Twitter Snob = Twitter Divvy

whale

I’ve noticed that there are quite a few Twitter Snobs out there. I categorize Twitter Snobs as those Twitter users that don’t like it when other people ‘miss-use’ their precious Twitter for activities they do not deem as suitable. Twitter Snobbery can take several forms, the most common I’ve found is animosity for third party tweets i.e. BrightKite, BlipFM, Blog updates and the like. There are others, like miss-use of the special Twitter language, but it’s largely the former I struggle with.

Here’s the thing, Twitter Snobs are generally the people that like Twitter the most right? The people that discovered it ‘first’ and that have nothing but admiration for the platform. And that’s the bit I don’t get. The point, and the best bit, of Twitter is that it is a framework with which anyone can do as they see fit. A Twitter Snob would be the first in line to go on about how innovative Twitter is in it’s ability to mutate. And yet the same Twitter Snob is also the first to get a strop-on when people tweet their current location?

Twitter is alive because people can do with it what they want, and that’s my point. Twitter Snobs be as grumpy as you like  – but in the end you’re the big Twitter Divvy!
