SocialSafe | Facebook Back Up

SocialSafe  enables Facebook users to back up and manage their Facebook data offline. Regardless of who actually owns your data (Facebook claims you do) until now it’s been difficult/impossible to get all the stuff you chuck on Facebook back off. SocialSafe is a smart utility that enables you to save your account (as often as you like) to your own hard drive – keeping your data in your hands at all times.

The service costs just $2.99 (paid via PayPal and no I’m not getting paid for this).  For that you get a license key and downloadable Adobe AIR desktop app. Once installed, you access your Facebook account via Connect and from there you can download your profile, friends, photo albums, and photos you’re tagged in (you can store your account activity yet).

SocialSafe is a smart and inexpensive way to backup your Facebook data. So, should you ever want to leave Facebook, want to reset your account, or your account is deleted/you delete it, you’ll still have access to your friends, your photos, and most of your Facebook profile – so you can easily start over.

I think this idea is really smart, particularly when you consider the potential for multiple network storage and management from one source. Being able to sync all my services in one place (local or web) and then being able to control what data is seen by who on which service is something I think we’d all find pretty useful.

Here.
