DiRT - 360

The first thing you’ll notice about Colin McRae’s DiRT is that it looks amazing - the environments, the tracks and the cars are all incredibly realistic. It looks as good, if not better, than MotorStorm and way, way better than Forza 2. The looks do come at a small cost, as the frame rate occasionally drops and the screen can show “tearing” effects or ‘horizontal disruption’ as I might have put it. But it’s a minor floor that’s totally outweighed by the quality of presentation, physics and brilliant gameplay.

The career mode exists of more than 60 different race events, and there’s a good mix, which I guess you wouldn’t normally expect from a McRae Rally title. Hill-climbs, circuit races (off-road circuits of course) and Crossover races (against one opponent, in separate lanes) as well as your standard rally sections. On top of this there are millions of different types of vehicles including buggy’s and big rigs.

DiRT offers a fun, very raw racing experience that is unmatched by any of its peers (except maybe MotorStorm). I must admit, I was really surprised by the quality of this title. There’s no real multiplayer action, but I don’t really care. It’s brilliantly executed arcade style rally action - and today, that is exactly what I want.

Top work CodeMaster fella’s.
