Tooble Maps

Nice London transport/journey planner site that not only has reliable up-to-date info, but integrates the tube map with Google so you can see the geographical location of stations.

Twat Nav

This Knight Rider GPS has voice prompts recorded by William Daniels, the voice of KITT, and apparently when turned on asks “Hello Michael, where do you want to go today?” I can definitely see Hasselhoff getting one for his Austin Ambassador.

Moto Backpack

The Yamaha Deus Ex is an ‘exo-skeleton’ with seven artificial vertebra as well as a pneumatically attached helmet (how the f*@k do you pneumatically attach a helmet..?). If you were wondering about the machine, the motor is in-wheel, powered by ultra-capacitors and doped nano-phoshpate batterie similar to those already used in hybrids.!?

What that means is that this ‘exo-skeleton’ backpack item is capable of 0–60mph in three seconds and has a top speed of 75mph.

Shit boy.

Street View Directions

Google Maps Street View has now been integrated into the Google Maps driving directions.

Cunning.

Geo Sim Philly

Virtual Philadelphia ia pretty much that; a carbon copy of Philly only on-line. It features (amongst other things), Human Interaction and E-Shopping (wow). The former enables you to be seen by other “Virtual” Philadelphia users, and communicate with them. The latter allegedly provides you with the experience of “real shopping”, by combining e-commerce with a true-to-life city model.

Sounds lazy, but fairly rubbish.

Finnair Are Rubbish

If you read this blog regularly you’ll be aware of my somewhat dim view of Finnair. This morning my flight was delayed (again), so I decided to write the above on as many sick bags as I could.

Here Are Our Journeys

Here are our Journeys is the Final Year Project of Brunel University student Matt Collins. It is an exploration into people’s interaction with music they listen to and the journeys they take. Using data logged by user’s iPods’ and GPS units’ the project collates people’s journeys’ and then represents them online where they can be shared with others.”

imagine if you had a device that plays music and has built in GPS…

Flying Car

milner-aircar_takeoff.jpg

It looks a bit crap, and all your mates will laugh at you when you turn up to the boozer, but I love that someone has made a Plane//Car. Brilliant. The Milner AirCar has four seats, four doors and four wheels in ‘ground mode’ but, in a matter of seconds, its also got giant wings and propellers that just fold out. In ‘air mode’ the diesel-powered Plane//Car combo will be able to cruise at 25,000 feet.

Which would shut your mates up. Once again, who needs a jet pack?
