Facebook Fan Trafiking

Viralee enables you to buy Facebook fans for cash, and very little cash at that. The service claims to have sold over 1 million fans, which is a fairly large amount of money/people/imaginary people. Customers simply cough up the cash and the fans apparently start arriving as follows:

For 1-100 fans – same day
For 1,000 fans – inside of 5 days
For 10,000 fans – inside of 14 days
1,000,000 has a guarantee delivery of a month

It costs 50 cents per fan up to 100, and for 10,000 fans it’s $0.099 cents per fan (I’ve no idea how much it is for 1 million). I ‘m guess ingFacebook doesn’t like this kinda thing much, although apparently (unsurprisingly) a lot of brands are flocking to the “pay per fan” model.

Two things spring to mind; where do these fans come from and how often have you become a fan of a rubbish brand just because it’s got loads of other fans?

This is a worrying problem. Thousands of Facebook users from Eastern Europe (lots of young impressionable women too) who cannot read English Fbook pages, get told they’re becoming a fan of Susan Boyle, Tatu or something equally great (through some smoke and mirrors webshit) then end up fan following esure car insurance, from which there is no escape. Despicable. The world needs telling – big ups.

Me? I’m a cynical bastard and won’t even be a fan of something I really like because inevitably it will then turn to shit.
