The Eagles Of Death Metal, London Astoria

Legs astride, leant right back and twirling his massive ‘tache - the Eagles of Death Metal front man Jesse “the devil” Hughes is every inch the rock superstar.
Josh Homme has taken a back seat now, with touring duties left to Hughes and his motley crew style band. Fortunately for us this only seems to have strengthened the experience.
Like the Queens before them, the Eagles are rock and roll - there is so much noise and energy pouring from the stage that you just can’t help but smile your way through. And though there is humour and a little melodrama, this is certainly not a Darkness style parody.
This is The Eagles of Death Metal, this is their life and man does it look fun.
Down and dirty riffs, screechy guitar solos, hip thrusting and camp old school poodle rock gesturing.
Everything, from Cherry Cola to I Only Want You was immense. Throughout, the gig had the rare quality that we were witnessing a bit of a special moment. Perhaps not in musical history - but certainly EoDM history.
Like this is their finest hour and we are right there with them.
Awesome.
