The Dell Streak (weird name?) is a kinda hybrid device somewhere between a smartphone and a tablet. When I say that I mean it’s a massive huge big phone and a tiny wee tablet. It’s got a whopping 5-inch screen with super high pixel density – which looks awesome. It’s also surprising how much difference that extra inch and a half or so makes when browsing, gaming or consuming. The Dell Streak is also pretty thin (10mm – which is about the same as the iPhone), and though it’s just a little bit heavier than most smartphones, it feels solid and well balanced-which makes using it pretty natural across a variety of activities. Aside from all the features you’d expect, the device runs Adobe Flash 10.1 and Android 2.2 (soon I’m assured), plus other enhancements like video chat applications and the like.

It’s an odd one but I like it. A five-inch phone may not be everyone’s cup of tea (it’s quite a lot bigger than an iPhone, see below), but people without iPad access and those struggling to manage with a standard offering will undoubtedly be considering devices with a bigger screen – which the Streak certainly has.

Obviously you’ll look like a bit of a nob when you whip it out of your pocket to answer a call  - but the Streak has the last laugh when you wanna actually look at something.
