Baker Tweet // Why We ♥ POKE
![]()
It’ll come as little surprise that I am a massive fan of POKE. Not only are they well good at what they do, but they have a wonderful and unique brand. And, as far as digital agencies (whatever that means) go, one from which we can all learn. POKE is one of the only agencies in the world that actually really really gets what this ‘digital’ thing is. And, like I said, I don’t just mean because they can make a smart twitter baking thing work – there’s something else – something in the way they behave.
POKE, unlike most, truly understand that the internet is best when it is about sharing, helping and talking – and what’s more – they do that. They actually behave like the thing they make stuff on, which, I think, makes them pretty dam special. Making BakerTweet for Albion is another clear statement about how POKE differs from the old agency world, in which it is (unintentionally) contained.
There are very few agencies in this industry that harbour those values…
…POKE does…
…and for that I salute them.
Poke Lomo
Marc ‘n’ Greg have created a awesome Lomo wall in the already smashing POKE office. Here’s a big version and here are their flickr streams (which are both totally worth checking out):

Thank you
To everyone that came out last night – particularly the Pokers, whose willingness to celebrate stuff with booze seems boundless.
Dudes, you rock.
New POKE Site
Simple, yet effective.
Goodbye POKE

For those of you that came out last night night – thank you. I have a sore head but a lot of happy memories.
I’ll see you soon.
POKE NYC Online
Nike id gone bad
When Jimmy left POKE everyone got to make a change to a pair of NIKE Air Max on the Nike id site. Here is the resulting leaving gift.

More interweb lovelyness from POKE
Spot The Bull
New from POKE for Orange.
Derek the Bull has been tagged with a GPS tracking device. If you can guess which zone of his field he’ll be in at 3pm each day, you’ll be entered into the draw to win tickets for Glastonbury. Simple.
David Gest
New work for ITV and the David Gest Show that airs in a week or so. This was a really fun project as I got to engage Mr Gest in the process – which was quite an experience. He is, as you can imagine, totally mad. The top-draw illustration is once again by Cookie. Go have a looky.
My home for the weekend

Thank you POKE for a top weekend in lovely Welsh Wales.
Cock-a-doodle
Cock-a-doodle won this on Monday at the Design Week 2007 Awards. How many people* can claim they went to the Grand Ballroom at the Hilton and picked up an award for a site based around doodling cocks. Brilliant.

If you haven’t already, you should really go play with the site here.
*Obviously this doesn’t include Cookie/Knotty/Iain and Peter, who all went to the Grand Ballroom at the Hilton and picked up an award for a site based around doodling cocks.
POKE digital chandelier

Built by these guys – http://www.jasonbruges.com/ – it sits above our boardroom table. Interactive and sensitive to moveable diode type things, the light changes as you want it too.
It’s stunning.
Benidorm

Something i have been working on for the last few weeks – am particually proud of the Currency Converter and the language options. Johnny Foreigner was illustrated by Cookie and the ‘awesome’ site design was Nico.
NIKE Joga Browser for FIREFOX
Created for Firefox as a way to get people to download their browser (something that most people don’t know they have or need). The idea being you can sell someone a tool that’s useful to them (in this case a World Cup internet tool) and then, once they are using that tool you can tell them that it works for other stuff too.
JOGA Companion was responsible for some 2 million Firefox downloads during the 2006 World Cup.
