Lovely live Bafta popularity tweeting action – I presume by the MIGHTY POKE.

WhatMovieShouldIWatchTonight
Mr Yuan is not only incredibly handsome with an incredible sense of style, but is also the creator of this rather marvelous (and quite fancy) site. He’s also responsible for some posters and a soon-to-hit-the-store free iPhone app device. Although he can’t take all the credit, the dashing and highly knowledgeable Mr Bauer seemingly assisted with some Flash action.
Man, you Gents rock.

Neill Blomkamp | Wired Easter Egg Tease
This clip was found ‘hidden’ in the latest iPad digtial version of WiReD Magazine.
“Here is what I’ve discovered. 18.12 is the number of the issue of WiReD that this video appears in. I did some searching and found out that a Beverly Hills-based company named Sable Productions Ltd. filed for the trademark “AGM Heartland” on October 18th 2010. The trademark use is labeled as: Entertainment services by way of an online website with video, audio and textual content and images featuring characters and storylines about a fictional genetic engineering company that produces genetically engineered and altered organisms.
Nicely done. Would be a little bit more believable if they’d used a stick rather than their hands…

PayPal | T[V]-Commerce

PayPal is working on a T-commerce (Television Commerce) system that will enable punters to buy goods they see on Internet-connected TVs via a remote control. Essentially, PayPal hopes to transform its payment platform into a digital wallet, accessible anywhere there’s Internet connectivity. To this end, the company has already announced Mobile Express Checkout, a mobile payment solution currently being used by Starbucks.

Radbox | Video Bookmarking
Radbox enables the Bookmarking of movies as you browse the web. The idea is pretty smart – throughout your ‘busy’ day you can save all the videos you want to watch (but can’t because you’re updating your status) in a handy list that you can go back and view (at Radbox) when you have time. You simply drag the ‘Add To Radbox’ button into your bookmarks and from then on in you can add any video you find (on supported sites) to your queue.
Nice.
Wouldn’t it be super-sweet if someone made an app that enabled people to watch the bookmarked videos on a TV. I’d go so far as to say that if I was Google/YouTube I might create a similar service with an attached app for Google/Sony TV.
Maybe.
Please.

Vimeo | CouchMode
Not unlike YouTube ‘LeanBack‘, Vimeo ‘Couch Mode’ enables anyone with a connected TV or supported web browser to view and navigate web content in optimised full-screen mode with a simplified user interface and search functionality. While Couch Mode is optimized for TV, users can also connect via a browser – providing they are running Safari or Chrome. Because it relies heavily on HTML5, CSS and H.264 encoding, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer can’t cope — and Mozilla and Opera have flatly refused support H.264 so don’t go trying there either.
More importently, it interesting how the focus on mobile video is suddenly shifting to connected TV…

YouTube LeanBack
YouTube Leanback is YouTubes latest made-for-TV experience (remember YouTubeXL?). Leanback provides a simplified YouTube experience and interface, offering simple keyboard commands, an advanced search interface, a visual UI for browsing clips and shows and has a name that makes me think of cured meats.
For GoogleTV obviously.

MovieReshape | Video Airbrushing
A system for quick and easy manipulation of the body shape and proportions of a person in video footage. Developers at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics in Saarbrücken, Germany merged together body types of 120 people to create one morphable figure which can be used to automatically manipulate the physique of on-screen actors. MovieReshape follows an actor’s silhouette as it moves across the screen, creating a 3D model of the actor’s body. The program then can create a realistic recreation of the body which it can adjust depending on the needs.
