rubbishcorp® is my digital second brain. A place where I can put all the stuff I want to remember, think is interesting or want to share. Plus, I find it pushes me to read and find out about stuff that’s happening in the world of technology and the internet, stuff I really need to know about to do my job.

My Job: I am a kinda hybrid Executive Digital Creative Director/Strategist. I’ve worked extensively across loads of disciplines and channels including Marketing/Advertising (digital/integrated/trad), Digital PR, Retail, Mobile (sites and applications) and Production. I’ve worked for ad agencies, a Global TV company, production companies as a commercials director and for three world class digital shops.

When I am not doing work, or this, I write for Anorak Magazine, I tutor at the Amsterdam Miami Ad School, loiter as a fellow of the Creative Social and play a shed load of games – and I mean a shed load.

RIOT/180 AmsterdamExecutive Creative Director [Digital/Integrated] – (adidas). My role at RIOT/180 involves the day to day running of a 55 strong full service digital agency. As ECD I am responsible for providing creative leadership to a multi-disciplinary team from pure digital to integrated and more traditional communication. Aside from site and comms work RIOT has a strong content creation and digital PR capability all based on a newsroom style (constant communications) model. I am also heavily involved in all aspects of the business, driving development and growth across all disciplines and ensuring RIOT works as a part of 180’s full service offering. On top of that I am increasingly involved in digital strategy and planning for existing and new clients.

R/GA LondonExecutive Creative Director (Nokia // Nike // Zain // PepsiCo // Microsoft // Alfa Romeo). Due to the size of the office my role involved both developing and delivering bigger (360) strategic and creative thinking as well as crafting output and working closely with my teams on smaller projects. Aside from digital comms and site builds I was involved in the creation and delivery of branded utility platforms, mobile applications, digital outdoor as well as digital retail installations. I also created and oversaw Nokia viNe and Nike Kit Builder, I was creative lead on the Nokia Global Digital Pitch,  as well working on (and winning) pitches for o2, Sky, John Lewis, PEPSI and Alpha Romeo. As part of the management team I also was responsible for the growth and success of the business, largely working with a remote MD.

At POKE I was a floating CD/Creative Lead working with the partners as well as planners, designers, writers and technologists and Mother, depending on the project. Notably I engineered a Google/Nike/Firefox partnership developed a hugely successful Nike Firefox World Cup browser and an ad that featured on the Google homepage.

Arden Sutherland Dodd LondonCommercials Director (Playstation  // BMW Mini // Carling // Pot Noodle // Sony Ericsson). During my time at ASD I directed TV commercials for agencies like Crispin Porter and TBWA as well as creating content for digital shops like Glue London

BSkyB London – Channel Creative/Producer – BSkyB enabled me to work as a Channel Creative Director and Producer. As well  as writing, producing and directing promos, commercials and content I got to work across many other aspects of the broadcast business. While at Sky I created and delivered 3 music channels including advertising, idents, programming, and comms.

St Luke’s London & StockholmCopywriter/Art Director (IKEA // HSBC // Clarks // Eurostar // BT // BSkyB). At St Luke’s I worked across multiple clients creating  everything from tactical press to 50 million+ TV campaigns.

MOTHER LondonRunner/Writer (Super Noodles // Channel 5 // Virgin). I was Mothers first employee. I started as a runner and left as a creative.

I’ve never been that fussed with awards, however I have won some – the last of which being GSMA 2010 Best Mobile Location Based Advertising Campaign and a Gold Lion, both for NOKIA viNe.
