Be Kind Rewind // BluRay // £15

As much as I love Gondry, and as charming as it might be, Be Kind Rewind is not a very good film. It’s a good idea, but one that isn’t worthy of a whole film.

The Dark Knight // Vue // £21

Firstly, the film didn’t really cost £21, it was £8. But, by the time I had parked, had some popcorn and a coke I’d spent £21. Which is a lot, especially as I had to sit through almost 30 minutes of ad’s prior to the film starting and my seat smelled of wee. It’s not difficult to see why I rarely go to the cinema.

Anyway, The Dark Knight:

New From Rafael Rozendaal

rubbishcorp® loves you Rafael.

Firef.ly

Firefly is a little bit of code that enables you to live chat with other people who are visiting a site, at the same time as you are. Up to 50 people can talk at once and you don’t have to install anything to get involved, the site just needs to be enabled.

Twitter-styled short messaging and IM are as popular as ever and Google are trying to build an immersive chat environment with the launch of Lively. Between those two methodologies sits Firefly, which makes it unique, simple and very interesting.

I have enabled rubbishcorp® (little thing in the bottom right), so have a play.

Cuilgle

“A start-up led by former star Google engineers unveiled a new Web search service that aims to outdo the current Internet search leader. Cuil Inc (pronounced “cool”) is offering a new search service here that the company claims can index, faster and more cheaply, a far larger portion of the Web than Google.”

More here.

My Drive Thru

The official music video for the song “My Drive Thru” by Santogold, Julian Casablancas, and N.E.R.D. It’s essentially an ad, made for the Converse Century campaign. Converse can so get away advert music videos, simply because of their heritage, they’re allowed.

Not many brands can, yet most desperately want too.

Mad World

This picture hangs in the childrens ward of the Spanish hospital I spent the last few days in. Don’t get me wrong, I love the hospital, they saved Molly. But, you have to admit, the picture is pretty freaky.

I walked by it a lot, and every time I was drawn into it’s evil stare. I had a dream about it last night and now I am worried I might be dead…

I dare you to make it your desktop.

Cheesy Cockers

From Spain.

Popuposaurs

I have finally found a solution to my ‘I am too busy (can’t be arsed) to actually learn about Dinosaurs so I can be brilliant at them issue’. It was staring me in the face and just I couldn’t see it.

I Just Driv There

For those of you that don’t know, East Anglia is the birth place of rubbishcorp®.

This pretty much tells it like it is:

Thanks Tony. Yes, assaferet.

MGMT//Sparklers

Shampoo//Radio

I don’t really get the thinking behind this product? The only logical reason for it being disguised as a bottle of shampoo is to prevent theft. I guess there was a spate of shower radio robberies in the designers local area as he was brainstorming ideas for shower radios.

It’s possible.

Clients?

Would you trust this man with your multi-million pound business account thing?

Via a lot of narcs probably.

Design For Life?

If you’re reading this from a feed you’ll likely not know what this blog looks like?

Or care.

It doesn’t matter, most ‘information’ sites/blogs look and behave in the same way. They all have a sort of template, one that’s built on functionality and enables ease of access. Neither of which actually need much polished (graphic) design. Slick ‘over design’ can act as a barrier; you could argue that online there’s a perception that the less designed the delivery of the information, the more real and trust worthy the material.
